Alameda
Aer-O-Nut'sOn September 7th, 2003, the Alameda Aer-O-Nut Control Line club, hosted our first west coast version of Northern Virginia's famous "Walt Musciano Scientific Model Contest". Qualifying models must be made from a solid carved fuselage and solid sheet wing version of any "Walt Musciano" design which was kitted by the Scientific Model Airplane Co. back in the 50's and early 60's. Also, only low performance period engines makes this event both challenging and fun.
Events includes concourse, modified stunt, proto speed and team racing. All of the events will use the same 10% nitro fuel. With the exception of Stunt, all events are flown on 35 feet lines.

Duane Roach won the "Concourse de Elegance" with his "Little Bipe".
We had about 15 models and 10 pilots and three dozen donuts at our first event. Pilot's choice determined the Concourse de Elegance winner. Duane Roach's "Little Bipe" was the favorite. Tied for second was Jim Perrson's "Little Bipe" and Heman Lee's "StuntMaster"
.
Stunt was the first event. Steven and Kathy Shackley volunteered their services as stunt judges. We modified the scoring to used by the Northern Virginia's club, to a 10 point system rather than a 20 point one. That made judging a little easier for the newbies. Jim Perrson put in an excellent show with his yellow "Little Bipe", followed by Bob Ruggio and Heman Lee. Jim was able to fly 2 level laps, climb/dive, wingover, 2 inside, 2 lazy eight, inverted and 1 ouside on a single tank full. Bob and I was able to do the same, but had to refill in the middle of our flight. The stunt event allowed for refueling with no points deductions. The rest of the field had problems just keep the little models in the air which was not an easy task.
