Mr. Bill Osborne designed the Platter as a first time gas-powered control-line model airplane for kids that is crash-proof. Bill Osborne founded one of the oldest control-line model fields in Alameda, known as the Bill Osborne Model Airplane Field. This dedicated site is even named on a AAA map.

My name is Heman Lee. I met Bill Osborne in 1997 and was amazed in his efforts to mentor the next generation in this great hobby. This web site is dedicated to Bill Osborne, who founded the Bill Osborne Model Airplane Flying Field in Alameda, Bill designed this model as a trainer for his youth modeling program. He has allowed me to share this Platter design with all of you on the Internet. I would appreciate any Platter stories and picture you have. Bill passes away in 2003 and I hope to honor his legacy with this web page.
